Getting Ready for School!

Yes are getting everything cleaned, stocked and ready for school next week! It is amazing how much needs to be done before everyone gets here. Ordering clay, paints, canvases, cleaning the windows and just tiding up takes a couple of days but we like starting out ready to roll on the first day of school.

Mary Freeman and Visual Journaling

We are so excited to have Mary Freeman teaching “Visual Journaling” …. Come join us Sept.15th for our Fall Kick Off. 6:30-9:30. ONLY $15.00 to try it out. Go home with a great page or canvas using layer upon layer of creativity. Better than scrapbooking…. even more exciting than “ just painting”. A great activity for teens, tweens and moms!!!!!

Register NOW this class is already filling up. Our teachers will be blessed tonight to learn from Mary so that they may then share with our students in our “ Art through the Ages” classes (older levels) where the students they will enjoy creating their own “Visual Journal” in class this year.

Special Guest! A Pet Bearded Dragon

You never know what will pop in to spark imagination at OOTB… Today our helper Garrett brought his pet bearded dragon ( “we bought him at a garage sale”

… really!) the kids liked this “still life idea”, Garrett also shared his turtle!!!! Children painted salt/ watercolor turtles after this inspiration!!! ( animals, animals, animals!)

Monday Night: time to go home??? Nope Valerie and Teresa had a “ mud works” birthday party!!! Potters wheel and clay creating! Happy Birthday Abby Rae!!!

Tuesday: Another surprise … TLC ( the Learning channel) is comes to OOTB Tuesday to tape a segment for a new show called “ Think Pink” we will keep you posted. A reality show… hmmmm…. we could have own!

Animals camp also had the “ mobile Science academy” here today to do a lab on frogs! Art followed of course creating frogs in clay with Ms. Brandee and a visit from another pet” sticky” the chubby frog.

Registration continues until Monday the 15th! We are closed next week for teacher training and to prepare for the new school year. We are ending our camps with a blast though!
